Three Shanghai Chefs

Taking photos of people when they are busy at work or tied up in a deep conversation is an ideal moment to capture a candid image. I love getting right into the middle of a busy food market or shopping area where people are so tied up in their own world that they are not bothered about a photographer with a large lens.

These three chefs in Shanghai were out from the restaurant taking a break and were in deep discussion about something important .... maybe discussing their work problems, or wife problems or perhaps deciding on which horse to bet on at the races! No matter what this gives you the photographer an ideal moment of invisibility to capture the moment.

Temple Talk

I love walking around the streets of any place to get the feel of the country and more importantly observe the local people going about their business. Candid street photography can really capture the true essence of a city or town and place the human elements in context with their local surroundings. In particular, in Asia there are so many interesting activities going on in the streets, whether it be eating, peddling or praying at the local mosque or temple it's usually easy to come across an interesting scene to photograph. I captured the two men in the photo above sitting outside a Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur sharing some words, while the couple inside are preparing to make some offerings in the temple. The guy on the right is also taking the opportunity to enjoy his lunch!
